Canadian Gets Coyote Castaway On Rafting Cruise Powered by Kindness

Some people see coyotes as pests and general nuisances. I have always felt sorry for them, beginning from Wile E. Coyote from the famous Warner Bros. cartoons for his never ending fruitless quest to capture the Road Runner. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan has reported that a man taking a rafting trip down the Red Deer and South Saskatchewan rivers, seems to have the same feelings in his own wily coyote encounter.

Justin's solo rafting excursion changed when he came across a small coyote apparently drowning. When Justin attempted to rescue the small pup, he fell into the frigid waters, but luckily was able to save both himself and his new friend and get back to his drifting raft.

After getting them both back on board, Justin applied his own version of coyote CPR on his new shipmate and it luckily began to breath again as he dried off. His new and grateful friend decided to join Justin for the next 10 days of his journey.

His new shipmate "Yip Yap" stuck around for the adventure. Yip Yap shared Justin's food, the warmth of his jacket and called dibs on Justin's backpack to sleep and hangout. Unfortunately, the trip was to come to an end, and with the help of his wife, he was able to contact the WRSOS to help Yip Yap get the care he needs until he is old enough to return to the wild.

The Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Saskatchewan is a non-profit and could use your support and help with any donation to keep up all their good work with Yip Yap and protecting Saskatchewan wildlife.
