Canadian Writer Scores Huge With Simpsons Gig Changing D'oh to D'eh!

The Simpsons are now entering their 31st season and have produced a whopping 684 episodes. That would take around ten days back to back to watch them all without a break, and that's not including the movie! Needless to say there are countless Canadian fans and who have seen every episode, and can't resist dropping a Simpsons quote, ("mmmmm..doughnuts") or blurting out Homer's trademark "Woo..Hoo!! upon a big win any time during the day. Canadian writer David Cryan took it a notch and decided to inject some Georgetown, Ontario into Springfield, U.S.A..

Bryan had contacted the shows executive producer Al Jean through Twitter in 2018 asking him to kindly read some scripts he had written for feedback. Al Jean requested some more samples of David's work and was impressed with what he read which resulted in a dream coming true, an offer to join The Simpsons writing staff!

David was all set to head south but unfortunately the U.S. visa department had other plans. David was unable to join the team due to the hard rules set by U.S. immigration and industry regulations. With his hopes feeling a bit dashed , Al Jean generously made him another great offer........to freelance write an episode!

After collaborating and coming up with some ideas, David's episode, "Undercover Burns" will focus on Springfield's infamous, ancient nuclear plant boss going undercover and hobnobbing elbow to elbow with his plant employees, including of course, Homer Simpson. This was David's first script for TV! "Woo! Hoo!"

Writing scripts has been a passion for David since High School, and pursuing it was something that he needed to do. “I was always realistic, I knew it was long odds, but I also knew if I didn’t give it my best, I’d never forgive myself.” said David.

A Great Canadian Success story about turning a passion into a dream come true. And what's more, we have one of our own on the team now, which means maybe a bit more of this:
