Canadians! Cube It Up To Break A Record And For A Great Canadian Cause!

I think we all rushed out back in 1980 when the Rubik's Cube hit the scene and grabbed one of those famous puzzles and, if you were like me, you spent countless hours trying to get those colours to match up! Well, here is the chance for all those hours of hard work to pay off!

On June 25, at 3 pm EST on a YouTube livestream, Canadians are invited to help attempt to break the current world record of 3,997 people simultaneously solving the famous puzzle of many colours for its 40th anniversary . Haven't ever been able to solve it? Don't worry! Not only has Rubik set up a solution page on their site, they have also secured speed cube-solving record breaker, Keaton Ellis, to lead the 40th anniversary event.

Keaton Ellis holds records in solving not only the standard 3x3 cube we all know and love but also has unbelievable stats for speed solving the 2x2, 5x5, 7x7 versions of the cube, not to mention one-handed and blindfold solving of the cube. You can check out all his incredible stats on the World Cube Organizations website. Super impressive! Unfortunately, there is no stats on removing all the stickers on the cube and replacing them back on the puzzle in the right combination, like I did to originally solve it out of frustration and to impress my friends that I had actually completed it. Less impressive.

Rubik will also be donating 40 cents from the sale of each cube for June and July to the Breakfast Club of Canada. Breakfast Club of Canada helps feed more than 243,500 children and youth in 1,809 schools across the country. Please visit breakfastclubcanada.org to find out and help with all the good work that they do.
