Dan Aykroyd has a great new show on T + E TV that explores people's personal accounts of their stays in Canada's most haunted hotels. Hotel Paranormal has just premiered, and if you are a ghost story fan like me, I highly recommend checking it out.
Outside of being a personal hero of mine, he is a Blues Brother, Ghostbuster, Doctor(Detroit), Sergeant (Frank Tree), Ghost Expert and an awesome Canadian. Kingston native, Oscar nominee, and the creator of some fantastic vodka, Dan Aykroyd has always had a connection to the spirit world.
Inspired by Canada's favourite Ghostbuster, here are the GCCB's favourite Ghost Movies to check out during a grey, rainy, stormy lockdown afternoon.
Grave Encounters-2011
This great spin on the 'found footage' genre, utilizes the reality TV/ Ghost Hunter angle. This fresh take adds some real originality, delivering some solid creeps and genuine scares.
Ghost Town Anthology-2019
Denis Côté's haunting atmosphere sets the perfect tone in his small town tale of loss and the arrival of spiritual visitors who disturb its residents.
White Noise-2005
Michael Keaton's character experiments with Electronic Voice Phenomena to contact his dead wife in the spirt world. This unnatural contact has disturbing results (Duh?!).
The Changelling-1980
This is not only a Canadian ghost classic, but an all time heavyweight contender!! Watch with the lights on! The wheelchair scene will give you nightmares for a week!
Agree or disagree? Does this list give you the chills? Let us know what Canadian ghost flicks raise the hair on the back of your neck! In the meantime, check out Mr. Aykroyd's list of the 5 most haunted hotels in Canada.
