Melt in your mouth....and melt your heart!

We know our community are inspired by stories of great Canadian's doing good, whether that be for their loved ones, their wider communities or even the whole country.

This story combines all three! And it is also the story of Canadian newcomers who came in search of a new life, a new place to call home and to contribute to our great country.

Let us introduce you to the Hadhad family, originally from Syria but now proud residents of Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

The Hadhad family had been chocolatiers for more than 20 years in Syria until their factory was bombed and the family chose to flee the local conflict and make a new life in Canada.

But as the Hadhad family share, having lost everything and escaped from a terrifying conflict that has forever changed their homeland they knew they wanted to do more than just re-establish the family business in Nova Scotia, noble as that is alone.

And so Peace by Chocolate was born and the Peace on Earth Society founded. The Peace on Earth Society benefits from 3-5% of the profits made by Peace by Chocolate to fund peace building projects around the world. The list of projects already underway is astonishing, or maybe that should be antigonish-ing!

So next time you are looking for a sweet treat to accompany your coffee break, why not enjoy a Canada Peace Bar or any of their other delicious treats because as they say, "One peace won't hurt!"

Watch out too for news of the release of the feature film being made of their story, due out in the Fall of 2020!
