This Weekend in Hockey History Belongs to Orr!

We are all missing Hockey and the play-offs, so let's look back on a weekend that #4 Bobby Orr definitely ruled!

1970 was a big year for Boston's greatest Bruin, Bobby Orr! Bobby was named winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL MVP, becoming the first defenseman to win the award in 26 seasons. He also scored the Norris Memorial Trophy for a third straight season.










Tom Fitzgerald set an NHL record in 1993 by scoring two shorthanded goals during the same minor penalty, within a span of: 48, to lead the Islanders to win against the Penguins.

In 1978 Ken Dryden had his 10th and final career playoff shutout in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Semi-Finals. The Habs swept the Leafs, and Ken solidified Montreal's eighth consecutive road victory over two seasons.













Detroit's Bob Probert scored twice against the Oilers in 1988, to set a Red Wings record for most points, 21, in a playoff season, breaking Gordie Howe's former record of 20.

Bobby Orr's overtime goal gave Boston a 4-3 win over St. Louis, and gave the Bruins the 1970 Stanley Cup Championship, in sweeping the St. Louis Blues, winning #4 the the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.











In 1968 Bobby Orr was the winner of the Norris Memorial Trophy as the NHL's outstanding defenseman. This would be the first win for eight straight seasons. This is an NHL record for defenseman.
