This Weekend in Hockey History-Crosby, Orr and Tergeon-Just Young Enough, Gordie Promoted and More!

The sun is out and hot, but there was still lots going on in the fast paced, exciting world of Hockey this weekend!!

Sidney Crosby becomes the youngest Captain ever to accept the Stanley Cup at center ice as the Penguins beat Detroit in 2009 !














Gordie Howe replaces Red Kelly as Captain of The Red Wings, holding the title from 1958 to 1962. And....Topps mis-spells Gordie's name on the 58-59 hockey card!














Bobby Orr becomes the youngest player ever to be selected for induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979!

Pierre Turgeon becomes the youngest player taken with the No. 1 pick in the 1987 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.















Philly's Mark Recchi at 43, clocks three assists and becomes the oldest player to have three or more points in an NHL playoff game, and the first player older than 36 to have more than two points in a game in the finals in 2001!

Brian Leetch scores the first goal of the winning game of the 1994 Stanley Cup, not only helping returning the Cup to the Rangers for the first time since 1940, but also being awarded the the Conn Smythe Trophy too!













In 1994, Bobby Clarke is not only named General Manager, but also President, and part-owner of the Philadelphia Flyers! Whoa!
