This Weekend In Hockey History - Howe Moves The Family Business, Firsts for Roy, Hasek and More!

The weather is getting warmer, but this weekend in Hockey History is cool as ice, especially when it includes Mr. Hockey, Gordie Howe and the rest of the Howe clan!

In 1986, Rookie Patrick Roy's first career playoff shutout against The Calgary Flames ushers in the Montreal Canadiens to become the first team to win 100 games in the Stanley Cup Finals.














Dominik Hasek becomes the first goaltender in playoff history to get an overtime assist as the Red Wings beat the Avalanche 2-1 in Game 3 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals.

Gordie Howe leaves the Houston Aeros with sons Mark and Marty in 1977, and joins the WHA's New England Whalers.






Larry Murphy led the scoring with 4 assists when The Penguins took a 4-0 lead in the first 13:41 of play, the fastest lead in Finals history. This paves the way for their 6-4 win over the Minnesota North Stars, in Game 5 of the 1991 Stanley Cup Finals.

Bob Nystrom scores at 7:11 of overtime as the NY Islanders beat the Flyers 5-4 in Game 6 of the Finals, to become the 1980 Stanley Cup Champions. It was the first of four straight Cups for the Islanders.













Claude Lemieux scores his 80th career playoff goal in the Devils 2-1 win against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers in Game 6 of the 2000 Eastern Conference Finals.
