This Weekend In Hockey History-Legends are Born, A Huge Comeback and Guelph Goes Hollywood!

Two legends born in the same weekend? Kings visiting the Royal City? It's only September but this weekend has some huge hockey history events!


September 18






Hockey Hall of Famer and Maple leaf Legend Darryl Sittler was born in Kitchener, Ont. in 1950. Regarded as one of the greatest NHL players and Leafs of all time, Darryl's broke records over his distinguished NHL career that still stand today!













After only 18 months after being diagnosed with cancer, John Cullen makes a triumphant comeback, scoring the winning goal for Tampa Bay in their 1998 game against the Buffalo Sabres.









September 19


The 1967 Los Angeles Kings win their very first NHL game over Minnesota in a pre-season match in Guelph, Ontario! Read more about time The Kings rocked The Royal City back in 1967!








Eric Lindros begins his NHL career putting up 2 points on the board as the Flyers beat the Nordiques in pre season play back in 1992!

Guy Lafleur is born in Thurso, Que. Lafleur this day in 1951. A true part of Stanley Cup, NHL and hockey history in general, "The Flower" has definitely earned his place in the listing of the 100 Greatest NHL Players of All Time!
